FOR FOURTH YEAR MBBS STUDENTS FOR RESEARCH PROJECTS PRESENTATION"
A Research Project competition for the Fourth Year MBBS students was
held by the Department of Community Health Sciences of Hamdard College
of Medicine & Dentistry, Hamdard University on 12th March.
Prof. Dr. M. Irfanullah Siddiqui, HOD, Department of Community Health
Sciences welcomed the guests and students and gave an introduction
of the program which has been started after he joined the College.
He was glad to note that the students are taking great interest in
conducting research in the field of community medicine
The students presented their research projects on various topics of
interest namely:
1. Frequency of hearing loss among textile industry workers
2. Perceptions and practices of fasting during pregnancy
3. Audit of food provision of a public sector university
4. Perceptions and practices about neonatal jaundice among females
5. Pattern of sputum culture and sensitivity
6. Attitude and practices towards tobacco use
7. Concepts of general population about homoeopathy
8. Knowledge and practices among the general practitioners regarding
dog bite management
9. Assessment of quality of life in thalassemic children of Pakistan
10. Quackery and factors favoring its occurrence
Dr. Fatima Jawad, Chief Editor of the Journal of Pakistan Medical
Education,
Prof. Dr. Usman Ghani Khan, Director Research of Eastern Medicine,
Dr. Masood Kadir of Aga Khan University, Dr. Imran Sheikh of Ziauddin
Medical University acted as judges to assess the presentations and
to decide about the prizes to the winners of the competition.
First, Second, third and special prizes were awarded respectively
to Faraz-ul-Hassan (group leader), Mustafa Mahmood (group leader),
Ali Hammard (group leader) and Aisha Saleem. (Group leader).
Prof. Dr. M. Sarwar, Dean Faculty of
Health and Medical Sciences, awarded the prizes to the winners.
