“HIIT, Assistant Prof honored to receive the Fourth Best Paper on the ITU World Telecom Day 2008 "

Engr. Rashid Hussain, Assistant Professor at Hamdard Institute of Information and Technology (HIIT), Hamdard University honored to receive the Fourth Best Paper ( Cash Prize Rs. 20,000) on Paper Writing Competition on the ITU World Telecom Day organized by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
The World Telecom Day was observed on 17 May 2008 with a theme ‘Connecting Persons with Disabilities: ICT (Information and communication technologies) Opportunities for All’.
The day is observed to mark the 143rd anniversary of International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The day is celebrated every year to remind global community of its responsibility of providing access to communication services to people all around the world.

The World Telecommunication Day has been celebrated annually on 17 May since 1969, marking the founding of ITU and the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in 1865. It was instituted by the Plenipotentiary Conference in Malaga-Torremolinos in 1973.
