HRIUM - Introduction

Hamdard Research Institute of Unani Medicine (HRIUM) has been approved by the 22nd Meeting of the Academic Council of Hamdard University as a constituent institute of the Faculty of Eastern Medicine. The mission of this institute is to execute advance studies and research in Unani Medicine and equip post graduate students in fundamentals of Unani Medicine leading to the award of M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees. In addition the goal of the institute is to publish books, monographs, and research based studies in Unani Medicine.

It is also among the aims of the institute to undertake analysis and execute drug standardization and validation of the theories and materia medica so as to provide evidence-based Medicine. HRIUM projects advances in the understanding of the role of diseases and their cure leading to effective systemic therapies and as these complement more established Unani medicine treatment, further advances are anticipated for integrative medicine development.
