Introduction

Rufayda Hamdard School of Nursing was established in the Year 2000 and offered Diploma in Nursing. In Year 2021, Rufayda Hamdard College of Nursing (RHCN) reinstated to offer undergraduate degree programs. RHCN operates under the umbrella of Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences (FH&MS), Hamdard University (HU). Nurses are challenged to take care of the diverse population in variety of settings. Therefore, their education should be kept abreast to fulfill the expectation and requirements according to the growing needs of population. Therefore, the vision of RHCN is devoted to produce highly skilled healthcare professionals in the field of nursing who provide patient care at individual, family and community level in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Healthcare System; to contribute in raising the image and status in the society; and in reducing the acute shortage of nurses at National and International level.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING (BSN) (4 years) Degree Program

Program Descriptions:

The Program is designed to prepare nurses leading to the ability to practice as a Registered Nurse. It fosters integrated nursing knowledge, skills and professional attitude. Upon completion of this program, the graduate is prepared to be a safe Registered Nurse (RN), who will be able to provide comprehensive care at primary, secondary and tertiary levels within hospitals and community settings.


POST RN BSN (2 years) Degree Program

Program Descriptions:

The Program is designed to provide the RN at diploma level with the opportunity to acquire a broad liberal degree level education with particular emphasis on theoretical and clinical knowledge related to nursing practice, nursing research, and population health at primary, secondary and tertiary levels.

Career Opportunities

Role and scope of nursing practice is emerging and continuously evolving, and RHCN is determined to produce highly skilled nurses to work at variety of settings at local, provincial, national and international level. At present, our graduates are working across the globe.

Nurses not only work in the secondary and tertiary level of care in hospitals but they work in various leadership, academic and research capacities as in-charge nurse, nurse educators, nurse researcher etc. They work from Primary Health Care (PHC) at Basic Health Units, Rural Health Centers, Schools and factories to the secondary and tertiary level care of hospitals focusing on individual, family and community as clients. New roles are emerging like Community Health Nurse (CHN), Occupational Health Nurse (OHN), School Health Nurse (SHN), Home Health Nursing (HHN), Nurse Informatics (IT nurse), Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Advance Nurse Practitioner (ANP). The Faculty of Health & medical Science (FHMS) is vibrant in fostering dedicated health Professionals through trained, experienced and facilitating faculty who utilizes contemporary evidence based instructional & assessment strategies for nurturing higher cognitive development including critical thinking, problem solving and decision making which are essential need for successful health Professional. The Faculty offer both undergraduate & postgraduate programs in medical, dental and allied health professions. The skill development is essential part of health professional training for which modern skill lab is available for students. The training programs& curriculums have been designed in accordance to guidelines of respective national and international accrediting bodied. Currently the integrated curriculum has been fully implemented at HCMD. Besides professional skill the curriculums structured in a way to produce well-disciplined, knowledgeable, motivated, hardworking and dedicated health professionals who are capable of not only serving the humanity according to the expectations but also to compete well with the best available human resource in the field. Since its inception in 1994, 25 Batches (2250 students) of MBBS and 21 batches (753 students) of BDS have been graduated approximately. The Hamdard University is a unique institute where students come from whole country and abroad. The multicultural, spacious and natural environment of Hamdard University also facilitate the growth and learning of student.

The alumni of HCMD is performing exceptionally well in country and abroad in not only in different postgraduate exams but also at faculty and expert positions. Currently total number of enrolled students in MBBS 504, BDS 165 students, DPT (5 Batches), Nursing (BSN Program 100 and Post RN BSN Program 06. In 2024, 31st Batch of MBBS while 26th batch of BDS is going to be enrolled. HCM&D is registered with Pakistan Medical & Dental Council under the section of PMDC ordinance 1962 and also accredited by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and World Health Organization.

How to Apply?

 

Following attested documents must be enclosed with the application form:

 

  • A copy of MDCAT result.
  • A photocopy of matriculation certificate.
  • A copy of intermediate or equivalent examination mark sheet.
  • A copy of certificate of Hafiz-e-Quran (if applicable)
  • A copy of character certificate from head of institution last attended.
  • Equivalency certificate from IBCC- Islamabad for those candidates who have obtained qualification other than intermediate (FSC/HSC)
  • Six passport size photographs

 

NOTE:

Incomplete application shall not be considered. The candidate will produce all original documents at the time of interview. If at any stage, a student is found to have taken admission in the college on temporary documents and failed to produce final document or on a fake statement or certificate, his / her admission will be cancelled without notice. At the time of admission, all the students will be required to submit the following documents:

  • Medical fitness certificate.
  • Affidavit of non-political /religious/ sectarian involvement.
