Hamdard University and University of Essex Fostering Academic Excellence

Hamdard University, a renowned institution in Pakistan, recently hosted a series of international guest lectures in collaboration with the prestigious University of Essex. This event aimed to create a nurturing environment for academic discussions, promote cooperation, and strengthen positive academic relations between the two universities. The event is the part of an MOU which also enable the admission of suitably qualified students from Hamdard University to the relevant degree courses at the University of Essex,
collaboration on research projects and mobility of students and academic staff.

Through these international guest lectures, Hamdard University and the University of Essex have created a nurturing environment for academic growth and intellectual exchange. By bringing together renowned experts from both institutions, the partnership has fostered collaboration, discussions, and positive academic relationships.

As the collaboration continues to evolve, we look forward to more exciting events and opportunities for students and faculty members from both universities.

A Year of Elections

The series kicked off with a thought-provoking lecture by Prof. Laura Sudulich from the Department of Government (Politics) at Essex University. Her presentation, titled “2024: A Big Year for Elections,” provided valuable insights into the significance of the upcoming elections and their potential impact on the global political landscape.

Understanding Coordination Problems

The second guest lecture was delivered by Prof. Simon Weldenholzer from the Department of Economics at Essex University. His topic, “Understanding Coordination Problems Using Game Theory,” offered a deep dive into the complexities of coordination challenges and provided practical strategies for overcoming them.

Data Science Applications

The series continued with a fascinating lecture by Prof. Joe Bailey from the School of Mathematics, Statistics & Actuarial Science at Essex University. His presentation, “From Predicting Netflix Recommendations to Analyzing Animal Behavior,” showcased the diverse applications of data science and its potential to revolutionize various fields.

Transforming TESOL

The final guest lecture was delivered by Prof. Antonio Da Silva from the Department of Language & Linguistics at Essex University. His topic, “AI in Language Teaching & Learning: Transforming TESOL for the Future,” explored the potential of artificial intelligence to revolutionize the teaching and learning of English as a second language.
